Student Discipline

At SIBBC&S, disciplinary measures are viewed as "redemptive" rather than "punitive". Consequently, a clear distinction exists between counselling and disciplinary actions. As members of the body of Christ, we recognize the importance of providing support and guidance to one another during life's challenges and relational difficulties. The Dean of Students' office is readily available to assist students with dormitory issues, relationship challenges, or any other personal concerns they may wish to discuss for prayer and advice. Students are strongly encouraged to engage with their Care-Father regarding life's uncertainties, and our faculty members are equally committed to assisting in any way possible. This ensures that our students have a nurturing and supportive environment in which to address the various issues and problems encountered in life.

Reasons for Discipline​

Discipline is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of student life and the SIBBC&S community. It serves to protect both the integrity of our institution and its testimony.

Discipline becomes necessary when students deviate from Biblical teachings and violate the rules and regulations of the institution. Instances that warrant disciplinary action include, but are not limited to, theft, physical harm to others, sexual harassment, criminal activity, dishonesty, consumption of alcohol, or smoking.

Categories of Discipline​

The following are the disciplinary actions that the Disciplinary Committee may impose on offenders, though this list is not exhaustive:

  1. Verbal Reprimand: This represents the mildest form of censure. It involves verbally reproving the offender while warning them about the consequences of their misconduct.
  2. Written Reprimand: The offender receives written reproof specifying the charges against their misconduct. They are cautioned about the consequences should they persist in or repeat the offense.
  3. Suspension: The student is suspended from school but may write a letter to the college administration or the Dean of Students office to request readmission after a one-year period of working with a local pastor. This request should be accompanied by a recommendation letter from the pastor explaining evidence of repentance. The Admission Committee, in consultation with the Dean of Students, will then determine whether to readmit the student.
  4. Dismissal: The student is immediately terminated from SIBBC&S without any provision for readmittance.

Discipline Procedures​

  1. The Dean of Students will initially investigate the charges against the offender. If the misconduct is deemed minor and warrants a verbal or written reprimand with corrective measures, the Dean of Students will proceed with disciplinary action against the accused student.
  2. If necessary, the Dean of Students will convene a Disciplinary Committee to conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the facts of the case.
  3. The Disciplinary Committee will review and consider all pertinent information to determine the appropriate disciplinary actions to be taken against the offender, subject to the approval of the Dean of Students, who will moderate as necessary.
  4. In the event of any disciplinary action resulting in suspension or dismissal, the matter will be referred to the Disciplinary Committee for a decision.
